For most families moving to Sarjapur Road, the school is the first decision and the home is the second. This guide lists the schools along the corridor by curriculum, explains how to check each claim yourself, and shows how to plan the school run before you book a home.

How we built this list (board, distance, source)

We set three rules before writing a single school name.

  • Curriculum, not ranking. We group schools by the programmes they say they teach. We do not rank them. A ranking is an opinion, and the right school is the one that fits your child.
  • Every curriculum has a source. Each entry says where the curriculum claim comes from: the school's own website or a named directory. The authoritative check is always the awarding body's own register: the IB World School directory, Cambridge's school search, CBSE's SARAS affiliation search and the CISCE for ICSE.
  • No distances, no drive times. A number of minutes printed on a page is wrong by the following week. In its place we explain how to measure the school run yourself.

The list below was checked on 15 October 2026. Schools add and drop programmes, so treat it as a starting shortlist, not a final word.

International (IB / Cambridge) schools

These schools describe themselves as teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge (IGCSE / A Level), or both, on or just off Sarjapur Road.

One World International School (OWIS)DommasandraIB Early Years, PYP, MYP and DiplomaSchool website

Where two directories disagree, as they do for Oakridge, ask the school which programme your child's grade will follow from the coming June. Schools often run two curricula side by side in different grades.

CBSE and ICSE schools

Many families on the corridor choose CBSE for its portability across Indian cities, or ICSE for its emphasis on languages. Several of the schools above also run a CBSE stream, and a number of CBSE and ICSE schools operate around Dommasandra, Sompura Gate, Chikkabellandur and Sarjapura town.

We do not publish a CBSE or ICSE list, because the boards publish one themselves, and theirs is the one that counts. Here is how to use it:

  • CBSE: open SARAS, filter by state (Karnataka) and district (Bengaluru Urban), and search by name. Note the affiliation number, the level of affiliation (up to Class 10 or Class 12) and its validity date.
  • ICSE / ISC: confirm the school's affiliation with CISCE, and ask the school for its affiliation letter.
  • State board: government and aided schools follow the Karnataka state syllabus. Check them with the Department of School Education.

An affiliation that ends at Class 10 matters if your child is in Class 8 today. It is a common surprise.

Drive times at school-run hours

This is the section other guides fill with minute counts. We will not, because there is no honest single number. What we can tell you is how to get one that is true for you.

  1. Pick the exact gate. Large communities on Sarjapur Road can have more than one entrance, onto different roads.
  2. Measure at the real hour. Set a maps app to depart at 7:15 am on a weekday in term time, and return at 3:30 pm. Run it on three different days.
  3. Ride the bus route, not the car route. Ask the school for its bus routes and pick-up times by area. A route that loops through other communities first can double your child's time on the bus.
  4. Count the main-road crossings. The fewer times the route crosses or turns across Sarjapur Road at peak, the more predictable it is.

Admission timelines families miss

The most common mistake is to book a home first and then look for a school seat for the next June. At the popular schools, the entry grades fill early.

  • October to January: many private schools on the corridor take applications for the following June intake. Some open earlier for nursery and kindergarten.
  • Mid-year moves: mid-year seats depend on vacancies, and are easier to find in the higher grades than at the entry grades.
  • Documents: keep birth certificates, previous report cards, a transfer certificate and proof of address ready. If you are moving from abroad, ask the school how it handles equivalence for an overseas curriculum.

If possession of your home is a year or two away, apply for the school year you will actually move in, not the current one.

Choosing a home around the school run

Once you have a shortlist of two or three schools, the home search gets narrower and easier.

  • Stay on the school's side of the main road. It shortens the bus loop and keeps the morning predictable.
  • Plan for the next stage. A child starting in a PYP school today will need a school with the Diploma or Class 12 later. Check that the school, or one near it, offers the next stage.
  • Look at the community, not just the flat. Children's play areas, a safe internal walk to the bus stop and a clubhouse where friends live nearby matter more to a school-age family than one extra balcony.
  • Compare corridors on the same terms. If you are also considering Whitefield, our Sarjapur Road vs Whitefield comparison covers schools alongside price, metro status and water.

SUYUG's homes on Sarjapur Road are at Sompura Gate, where several of the schools above are on the same side of the corridor. Families usually start with our 3 BHK apartments on Sarjapur Road. The best test is to do the school run yourself on the morning of a site visit, and we will plan the visit around it.

Frequently asked questions

Schools that describe themselves as offering IB or Cambridge programmes on or just off the corridor include One World International School at Dommasandra, The International School Bangalore near Dommasandra, Greenwood High International School and Oakridge International School towards Varthur, and Harvest International School near Kodathi. Confirm each one on the IB World School directory or Cambridge's school search, because what a directory says and what a school is currently authorised to teach can differ.
